Well, it’s been awhile. It would be an understatement to say the boys and girl of Driven have been busy. This past May, Driven had to say farewell to Jake and Rebekah. Why you ask? In case you hadn’t heard, Jake wisely accepted an opportunity to be the full-time guitarist for Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder! Jake has been doing so for almost two years now, but he continued to perform (when able) with Driven, until this past May. The members of Driven realized Jake and Rebekah needed to step away, and take a bow. The Workmans have since moved to the Nashville area, and are busy as ever. We continue sending our love and congratulations to Jake and Rebekah. While we miss them, Driven couldn’t give up that easy, even though it has taken some time for the dust to settle…
In the meantime, there are many more congratulations to go around to the rest of the band as well. Jimmy recently relocated away from Wichita, after accepting a nice promotion. Starting a new job and moving is never an easy task! Brandon was busy throughout 2017 getting ready for a wedding, which just took place in October! Doing your own wedding planning demands a lot of time, but we are thrilled for Brandon and Breanna! What has Blake been up to? Since our last website update Blake and his wife, Lindsay, have had two children!
As Paul Harvey would say, “And now, you know the rest of the story”……or not.
So with Jimmy, Brandon and Blake still on board, what does Driven plan to do about a guitar player? Enter Ken White.
Ken White comes to Driven heralded by many in the bluegrass world (among other genres). He is truly a virtuoso across many styles of music including jazz, classical, and country, to name a few. Ken has toured and performed with many notable artists including Vassar Clements and The New Tradition. Did we mention he can really sing too? You won’t want to miss seeing Ken in the new lineup. So what’s next? While we’re looking to hire a new fiddler, we’re also gearing up for some heavy songwriting. We already have a start on a number of original songs for the next project, but it’s about to get serious!
Driven is back, even though we never really went away. Life needed some of our time, but it’s now back to the business at hand….music.
